
SHONA is building prosperity in East Africa by identifying, guiding, backing, and connecting entrepreneurs and helping them grow Good Businesses across East Africa.
In partnership with Welthungerhilfe (WHH), with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Germany (BMZ), we are implementing a new program, called “Herizon” which aims to build economic opportunities for women and increase access to products and services that increase the quality of life for women in Uganda and Kenya. We plan to identify and support the growth of women-driven enterprises, benefiting women and operating in the thematic areas of Agriculture, Climate-smart food production & nutrition; Climate change; WASH; Digitalisation; Skills development; and Economic Empowerment.

Herizon is a program implemented by SHONA in partnership with Welthungerhilfe, with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Germany (BMZ). The program is implemented in Uganda and Kenya.

The program plans to achieve this by identifying and supporting the growth of 40 female-driven enterprises operating in specific thematic areas.
A business is considered women-driven for the Herizon program when it meets the following conditions:
Growth-driven businesses in Uganda or Kenya that match all the following criteria are eligible:
Legal Business Registration: The business must be legally registered by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) in Uganda or the Business Registration Service (BRS) in Kenya.
Participating businesses will receive extensive support aimed at building economic opportunities for women and increasing access to products and services that improve women’s quality of life. This support includes:
Showcasing your business: Assistance in growing their network, including participation in an ecosystem event to showcase entrepreneurs and their businesses.
